Boxing

Boxing has long been a cornerstone of Harlem’s cultural identity, with legends like Hector Camacho, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Joe Louis shaping the community’s passion for the sport. At HFFA, we’re committed to reigniting this legacy, offering youth the opportunity to learn boxing while building discipline, resilience, and strength—both in and out of the ring.

Our program teaches punching technique, strength, and conditioning, with students progressing toward USA Boxing amateur bouts as they develop their skills. Through this comprehensive approach, we empower young athletes with the confidence and work ethic to face any challenge.

Leading the program is Head Coach Rich Rodriguez, whose extensive experience in boxing and youth development makes him an exceptional mentor. Coach Rodriguez combines technical expertise with a deep commitment to nurturing the personal growth of each athlete, ensuring they become not only better boxers, but stronger individuals.

I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion’.
